Goodbye Bugs, Hello Better Kitchen Door
We recently got a call from a great client who said, “I’m ready to do that kitchen door replacement now.” She’d been eager to fix a few nagging issues:
- The existing door had a plain glass window—bad for security—and despite being solid core, it felt flimsy.
- No threshold or door sweep meant bugs had free entry from the garage. (We spotted an ant trap next to the trash can—clearly, she wasn’t imagining things.)
- The right-hand swing opened right into the light switch and garage opener. To turn on a light, she had to walk around the door. Not ideal.
- She also wanted more of a barrier between the garage and the utility room—for both peace of mind and practicality.
No problem for Dallas Elite Home Services.
We recommended a solid-core, steel exterior door with a proper threshold and weather-sealing. We also flipped the door swing so she can finally hit those switches without playing musical chairs.
Fun fact: the garage had tile flooring—she suspects the previous owner ran a home business out of it.
We installed a new prehung door, sealed it with silicone inside and out, and left her with a sturdier, cleaner, and bug-free entry. Simple upgrades that make a big difference. She was excited with her new door and even said, "I finally feel like the house is separated from the garage."
