SHOWER REPAIR
Shower Grout and Caulk Repair in Dallas
Cracked or missing grout in a shower corner lets water behind the tile every time the shower runs. I seal those corners, grout lines and tub joints with a flexible silicone made for tile, color-matched to your grout, so they flex instead of cracking open again.

What I Fix
Why Shower Corners Keep Cracking
Grout is rigid. A corner is where two surfaces meet, and those surfaces move a little as the house settles and the shower heats up and cools down. Rigid grout in a joint that moves will crack, and filling it with more grout just starts the clock over again.
Before I seal anything, I make sure the joint is completely dry. Caulk does not bond to a wet joint, and a damp joint is a common reason a new caulk line peels away early.
The fix that lasts
Tile industry guidelines call for a flexible sealant, not grout, where two surfaces meet, because those joints move. That's why I seal corners with a silicone made for tile and grout joints.
When a Corner Needs More Than Sealing
If tiles are loose or sound hollow when tapped, or the wall behind them feels soft, sealing the corner won't fix the problem. I check the tile around the joint before I start and tell you what I find, so you know what the repair will and won't solve.

A Recent Job: Shower Corners in Sparkman Club
This shower had cracked, moldy grout in every corner and around the niche. In one floor corner the grout had fallen out completely, and water was getting in behind the tile each time the shower ran.
I sealed all of the corners and the niche with a silicone caulk made for tile and grout joints. The corners are closed again, and because the silicone flexes, they can move with the house instead of cracking open.

Common Questions
How much does shower grout repair cost in Dallas?
Shower grout and caulk repair starts at $140. The number of corners and joints, plus any niches, benches or loose tile, set the final price. Send photos of the shower and I'll give you a real number before anyone comes out.
Why use silicone instead of new grout in the corners?
Corners are where two surfaces meet, and they move slightly as the house settles and the shower heats and cools. Grout is rigid, so it cracks there again. Tile industry guidelines call for a flexible sealant in those joints, which is why I use a silicone caulk made for tile and grout.
Do you remove the old grout first?
For corner and joint repairs, I seal over the existing grout with a silicone made for this purpose, which closes the gap without disturbing the tile. If the grout around it is crumbling or the tile is loose, I'll tell you before I start what it needs.
Can you match the color of my grout?
Yes. For cracks in the grout lines, I match the caulk color to your grout as closely as I can so the repair blends in with the rest of the wall.
Do you clean grout?
No. I repair cracked and missing grout in shower corners and joints, but I don't offer grout cleaning.
